Location overview

Woodland Creation

We are planting 180 ha of woodland almost entirely composed of native broadleaf and native Scots pine.

Protecting Ancient Woodland

At Glenaros, we actively manage over 46ha of ancient Atlantic Hazelwood alongside oak woods. These are places rich in wildlife, being part of Scotland’s rainforest, one of the world’s rarest and most endangered woodland habitats. We currently survey and monitor the condition of these woodlands and from this early work, we know that they are suffering from overgrazing but still support rare lichen and fungi communities. We are also aware that the invasive rhododendron is on the edge of these woodlands and will threaten their future if not subject to a robust control programme.

Peatland Restoration

At Glenaros, we have restored 30ha of degraded peatland with PIU Value of 3213 tCO2e. Peatland restoration and protection is vital in our fight against climate change. All of our projects are registered with the Peatland Code, in order to verify the carbon emissions reductions made. We work alongside organisations such as Peatland ACTION in order to achieve the highest standard of restoration and monitoring.

Replenish The Planet

The Isle of Mull is situated off the western coast of Scotland and is the second largest island in the Inner Hebrides. With approximately 300 miles of coastline, it is home to a diverse range of wildlife, plants, and trees. Our goal is to address and minimise the impact of climate change by engaging in activities such as reforestation, peatland and nature restoration. We are managing this awe-inspiring historical estate, teeming with wildlife, to showcase how estate properties can actively contribute to environmental conservation and the fight against climate change.
