By focusing on native species, we ensure that the ecosystem remains balanced and resilient, while also contributing to the reduction of greenhouse gases in the atmosphere. This ambitious endeavor will not only enhance the natural beauty of the area but also play a crucial role in combating climate change and preserving our environment for future generations.

Community

Montgreenan offers a wealth of opportunities to serve as an outdoor classroom for people of all ages and backgrounds. Our team are currently in the process of planning and developing a safe pathway within the site, so that visitors can enjoy the developing woodland and its wildlife. Our aim is for students and volunteers to explore and learn about the diverse range of plant and animal life that Montgreenan has to offer.

Nature Restoration

Montgreenan is home to a wide variety of wildlife and its native broadleaf trees provide places for birdlife like wrens, chaffinches and even snipe. Wild angelica, Knapweeds and Greater bird’s-foot trefoils add much colour around the trees as well as flowers for pollinators. We will monitor the wildlife at Montgreenan over the coming years.

Our vision

We aim to turn this small site into a sanctuary for wildlife, making a significant contribution to the fight against climate change. Our goal is to create a thriving ecosystem that not only supports a variety of species but also helps mitigate the effects of global warming. Building on the good stewardship of the previous owner, we aim to continue to evolve this small site into a wildlife haven, we hope to inspire others to take action and protect our planet for future generations.

Creating a wildflower paradise for pollinators

Montgreenan is home to a diverse array of wildflowers, including Wild angelica, Knapweeds, and Greater bird’s-foot trefoils, which provide a vibrant burst of colour around the trees and serve as a valuable food source for pollinators. Our goal is to improve the environment even more to create an even more attractive habitat for pollinators.

Restore Today, Flourish Tomorrow

At Montgreenan, we will plant native broadleaf trees and create wet and other woodland habitat. We will enhance nature on the site through woodland creation and wetland enhancement. Our projects aim to engage and benefit local communities whilst preserving the environment.
