Pleasantfield is located in the picturesque Ayrshire countryside, known for being the inspiration for Scotland's beloved poet, Robert Burns. The 35ha site used to have woodland areas until 1949, when it was mostly converted to pasture. We are thrilled to be reintroducing woodland to the area.

Location overview

Woodland Creation

We have planted 86,275 predominantly native trees with a high productive broadleaf component, creating a diverse carbon rich woodland that exceeds UK Forestry Standard expectations.

Community

Pleasantfield is located only a few minutes from the major town of Ayr in Scotland. We hope that our site will be used by everyone, to enjoy the outdoors and reconnect with nature. We plan to do this by creating woodland walks that inspire the senses.

Nature Restoration

At present, the site has very limited biodiversity value, with the oldest hedges to the west of the site being most important, providing food for bird species like the Fieldfare, Redwing and Mistle thrush. However, through our native woodland creation work, the protection of currently degraded wet ditches and streams, and the management of turning remaining grassland areas into wildflower meadows rich in pollinators, we will greatly enhance the site for biodiversity, making it jam-packed with life once again.

Restore Today, Flourish Tomorrow

At Pleasantfield, we are focused on planting native trees and transforming degraded grassland into wildflower meadows. Our projects aim to engage and benefit local communities while preserving the environment.

Location data

The Dumyat woodland creation scheme has now been approved and work is underway, this page is being maintained with all of the documents and the survey form is being checked every week if you’d like to get in touch.
